Just in case other researchers are interested, the above site that Blondie pointed me to is searchable via Google site search ability. For example, 1260 site:http://www.ctrussell.us/ placed in the search field gave me the relevant article I was looking for.

Even more exciting, since you're using Google, you may search for multiple terms that may be in the same proximity. For example, if you're searching for articles that may show the early Watch Tower position on resurrection of the ancient Sodomites, enter the following with the search field -- sodom* resurrect* site:http://www.ctrussell.us/

Note the use of the wild card *. Resurrect, resurrects, resurrected, resurrection, etc., will be found by using it. By using Google in this way I found some 54 instances of articles to explore.

Hi Blondie,

That's all I needed. No, they aren't the page scans that I wanted (where you can see the page as it originally appeared), but it gave me the verification I needed. It confirmed what I had found in that huge one-piece file.

That link from above (http://ia700304.us.archive.org/27/items/WatchtowerLibrary/magazines/w/) must have a glitch. When you get to the September issue there seems to be a big chunk of pages missing. Apparently why I couldn't find my search term.

ZWT, September, 1898.

That quote is found at http://www.watchtowerdocuments.com/documents. Note that is a sizeable download of some 74 Mbytes since that single file contains all ZWT issues from 1879 through 1916. To obtain it, look on that page and click on the link 1879-1916_Watch_Tower_Journals.pdf.

I decided to verify that quotation by looking for another source. I found one (thanks to a post by our friend Atlantis) that had that specific Watch Tower series of 1898. The one that I found is here: http://ia700304.us.archive.org/27/items/WatchtowerLibrary/magazines/w/

Once that view of folders displays, you may then look for any specific year from 1879 through 1949 – in my case, 1898, and click the link. The sizes that I downloaded range from 15 to 25 Mbytes in size.

The problem? This file, like most PDFs, allow you to string search. However, when you search for any of the text (say 1260 days) from that quotation above, you won't find that quotation.

Any suggestions?

I updated the above table with dates, made a few corrections on the charts -- along with their reduced pixel width in order to display properly here -- and am ready to upload them to Photobucket once again. I first had to delete the old ones and there must be a delay period before one can upload the freshened ones.

Do you have page numbers for those references? Ah -- good question. I never finished the table, including the page numbers, did I? I'll try to do that sometime today. Check back later and the table above should reflect the changes (it may take a browser refresh, or two).

As to page numbers in the first three references, I've given up trying to do that when quoting from that huge online document. I think it's from one of the Watchtower Reprints series where it's easier to search for a string of text than a page number. Alanv, you are spot on, I believe. The rank and file has no idea. Without the proper computer files -- and knowing where to look and knowing what to look for -- forget it. A collection task like this one would have been virtually impossible before the mid-90's. Search engines like Google are priceless.

I believe that definition profoundly describes what we see when looking at Watchtower's wavering at its interpretation over the years of the 1,260 days of Daniel and Revelation.

Note, too, how items 4 and 6 boast identical beginning and ending dates – the new light in 1951 was actually a return to the former new light of 1929. Ironically, Watchtower says this does not happen when they say, "However, it may have seemed to some as though that path has not always gone straight forward. At times explanations given by Jehovah’s visible organization have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view. But this has not actually been the case." The Watchtower, 1981, 12/1 p. 27

So – are they that ignorant about what they've printed – or did they lie?

The charts below are based on that table and may better illustrate how silly things can get in the world of Bible interpretation. Thanks to JWFacts and others for excellent source material.

The Watchtower is NOT a false prophet

regarding what some have said here about the wt being a false prophet.. i would like to make my point regarding the wt not being a false prophet... so please, if you can be patient enough to read this, at least try to understand what i am getting at.. a false prophet is one who, according to deuteronomy, makes a false prediction of the future and claims that the prediction came from god, or in other words claiming that 'god has said he will do a certain thing at a certain time' etc.. for example, hypothetically speaking, if someone had claimed: "god will bring about the end of the world in 2010", they would have been proven to be a false prophet, obviously.

but, as an example, imagine a man who claimed the position of a prophet of god, (as moses did, because although he was not the type of prophet that predicted the future.. he was still a prophet or spokesman for god) and that he had publicised worldwide, according to his interpretation of a (for example) prophecy found in the book of isaiah, that the world would end in 2010.. and he had also stated that he was not saying that god will end the world in that year.. but only that there was biblical evidence that god might do so.

that would clearly have been a mistake.

Quiet One: That last sentence of my last post should be ignored, I couldn't edit it.. MNLWND was a false interpretation, not a prophecy in the name of God.

The rules of his game (and Watchtower's) are like Simon Says.

CERNE LAB IN Switzerland -- Major News

the new york times and every news shows was reporting that the particle collider in switzerland ran a test that could divulge the god factor in the fabric of the universe.

there is an official name for it that sounds like two last names combined.

particle physics is not my strong suit.. the journalists voices sounded very excited.

Letter of DA from attorney to Elders becomes gossip fodder -- Society, Elders culpable?

on a recent thread, i posted a question there but was too late.

it had fallen off the radar.

that thread was about someone who had an attorney mail notice to their local congregation that they had terminated membership.

Re the O P and the attorney letter : it stated that she " wishes to no longer be a member of the Jehovah Witness religion. " so an announcement of that simple fact with no embellishment would not " demean the good name of "R" - or would it ?????

Makes sense to me. However, in the context of that letter it seemed to me that she wished to make that statement -- but without any punitive repercussions. Not possible, in Watchtower world.
